A week after a heavy defeat at Totland, we were glad to get back to familiar territory on a fast green.

Tim Blow (skip) with Steve Day, Gerald Rees and Colin Greer started well in the early stages and had a narrow lead when over the course of two ends, the match was almost turned upside down. On the first, Bembridge conceded 7 shots and memories of similar concessions a week ago came flooding back. On the next end, however, Bembridge fought back and scored 6 shots to stabilise the situation. From this point on, Bembridge took control and Ventnor seemed to lose heart. Bembridge eased to a comfortable win 25-14.

Dave Wolton (skip) with Pat Maher, Martin Ward and Stewart Small were involved in a far more competitive match on their rink with fluctuating fortunes throughout. All four bowlers came up with big shots at vital stages and the win was secured 20-16.

Chris Emms (skip) with David Brown, Peter Svensden and Norman Cooper came up against a strong Ventnor four who found the home green to their liking and never looked like losing. The experienced Bembridge four did however retain their match awareness, securing a shot on the last end to ensure the overall shot score finished even.

A welcome feature of the afternoon was the presence of Bill Silvester and Alan Scovell on the sidelines in support of Bembridge.
