Notice Board

  • Valentines Day
We had 20 members attend a fine wine & dining evening to celebrate Valentines Day. There were clean plates & empty glasses, & an evening which extended for 4 hours & resulted in smiling faces.
  • First cut with the new mower
First cut with the new mower. Thanks from a happy Green Team.
  • Sweet & Sour Pork Demonstration – 9th January 2026
We had 19 diners come along on Friday to watch Bernie demonstrate his Sweet & Sour Pork. Tables were positioned in an arc around the demonstration area to allow all to see. After watching & asking questions, diners sat down to the meal itself. This was followed by a summer pudding. It was a small but intimate gathering. Copies of the recipe were on each table for people to take away. Thanks especially to Sally & Daphne for always being there to help.
  • Hot Shot squad
On November 29th Bembridge played against Ryde Indoor. As is obvious, a lot of our players never bowl indoors so we’re at a great disadvantage and we lost heavily overall. However, my team did manage to get a Hot Shot and subsequently certificates and badges were presented for inclusion in Bowls International Magazine, February 2026 edition. My squad was David Brown (lead), Derek Selway (2nd), Ruth Emms (3rd) and myself as skip. Chris Emms
  • Christmas Dinner 2025

  • Ten Pin Bowling
18 members enjoyed an evening playing at Ryde Superbowl, trying to knock down ten pins, some with more success than others. A lot of banter, interspersed with some loud cheering made for a fun evening which we will hopefully repeat. Thanks to Maggie and Carole for making this happen as part of our Winter social programme.
  • Badger damage to the Green!
We’ve had damage to the green by visitors, but thankfully not to this extent. The hole by the beer mug was one of five in the middle of the green. The larger hole was in Cat Corner.     After the repair. The visitor left a couple of calling cards. I’m no Chris Packham but I think I can recognise badger poo. Norman O.
  • Working Party
These are some of the volunteers who spread four Tonne of topsoil on our green as part of the efforts to generate and even better playing surface next season. We were ably supported Mary and Jackie with coffee and cake.
  • Club Finals
The hardy finalists faced the weather, torrential rain and very strong winds on Sunday and Monday while the spectators (very sensibly) sat inside the clubhouse keeping dry! The sun came out on the last day (Tuesday) much to everyone’s relief. The standard of bowling produced many excellent close games with a win often happening on the last bowl of the game. The ladies champion was Gay Allen and the men’s champion was Bill Silvester and after a very hard fought match between them, Gay finally emerged as the Champion of Champions.
  • County Ladies 4’s Championship victory
Congratulations to Gay, Carole, Debbie and Alison for winning the County Ladies 4’s Championship last Saturday (19 July 25). We all wish them good luck in the National’s at Leamington in August.
  • Green opens on Saturday 12th April
Just a reminder that the green will open on Saturday 12th April 2025.
  • Christmas Dinner 2024
A great time was had by all at this years Christmas Dinner with thanks for a wonderful meal prepared by Bernie and his volunteer crew. Thanks to all who contributed to making it a successful and enjoyable event on the night. Click here to see the photos from the dinner.
