A busy period for the A team, three games in four days. Two of these were cup matches and if the team thought they would be able to escape the grind of battling for vital points in the league and be able to relax, they were in for a rude awakening. In the first game against Ventnor A, Bembridge won only one of the four disciplines, the pairs played by Bill Silvester and Gerald Rees and lost overall by three points to one.

In the second game against Sandown A, the four of Bill Silvester with Gerald Rees, Steve Day and John Hawkes were the only winners on the three rinks and Bembridge lost the match by two points to one.

This was all poor preparation for the league match against Shanklin B where we were hoping to pick up points to improve our precarious position in the league table. This was instead another heavy defeat to an experienced team who outgunned us. The nearest we came to registering any points was on the rink skippered by Bill Silvester where we went into the nineteenth end leading but thanks to a brilliant shot by Shanklin B’s skip we emerged several shots down and a subsequent loss.

Match result: Bembridge A 0 points Shanklin B 10 points
Shot score: Bembridge A 29 shots Shanklin B 79 shots
