Saturday 24 May and we were away to Sandown C. It was a chilly day with strong gusty winds blowing diagonally down the slope. Some of the gusts not only lifted litter and removed hats but blew one metal score board into the hedge. Challenging conditions.
On Rink 4 John P, Richie, Paul M and Kev made a good start winning the first three ends but then it turned into a long afternoon for them, eventually going down 15 -35.
Rink 5 – Derek, Norman O, Paul C and John Hy had a tight game. Initially Bembridge took the lead only for Sandown to fight back taking the lead on the seventh end. After end 17 Sandown were 19 – 12 up only for Bembridge to wake up taking the last four ends. Bembridge 17, Sandown 19.
Rink 6 – Bernie, Bill M, John Ho and Tim made a slow start but took the lead by the eleventh end. Bembridge then pulled clear only for Sandown to get a 4 then a 5 on the last two ends It ended a draw at 23 each.
Overall Bembridge 1, Sandown 9.
