A bright sunny afternoon greeted us on a green which in the past has proved difficult for us. It was critical that we should come away with at least some reward for our efforts. To this end Captain Stewart had shuffled the personnel of our three rinks and by the end of the afternoon it was apparent that this had been a limited success. Bill Silvester with Colin Greer, Gerald Rees and John Hawkes started confidently and were in control for the majority of their match. They approached the final ends with some trepidation, bearing in mind that in recent matches Lady Luck had not been on their side. Fortunately, the final bowl delivered by the opposition skip was misplaced and the Bembridge four won 21-18. On the two other rinks however, Bembridge were up against it from the start against very strong and experienced fours. Chris Emms with David Brown, Chris Brown and Patrick Maher battled hard before going down 10-30. Stewart Small with Steve Day, Ross Silver and Peter Svensden playing on a particularly difficult rink lost 5-32.
