On Saturday 28 June the Men’s B Team were home to Newport B. It was the first day of the late June heatwave and was hot, windless and humid. Not pleasant.
Rink 1. Bernie, Trever, Ross and Tim made a good start with a six on the second and held the lead taking tea 13 – 7 up. With ones and twos Newport fought back taking the next six ends. Taking the lead on end 16 they went on to win with a final score of 16 – 24.
Rink 2. Norman O, Gordan, Paul M and John Hyl didn’t start well losing a six on the second end. They then trailed till tea when they took the next five ends and drew level by the fourteenth end. Newport took a four on the fifteenth and then a five on the nineteenth going end to win 14 – 25.
Rink 3. Derek, Richie, Paul C and Kev lost a four on the first end and were 13 – 24 by the seventeenth. They then fought back taking the last four ends to finish 23 – 24.
