A cool and gusty day greeted us on our home Green but the conditions did not prove helpful against a team which in the recent past we have considered to be close rivals. The necessary fast start only materialised for us on one rink and for the other two, it was to prove a difficult and cold afternoon. Norman Cooper and his team of Gerald Rees, Ian Hampshire and Chris Brown started well, established a lead and in the closing stages stretched that lead and won comfortably 27-14. Worthy of note was the performance of Ian Hampshire who with new woods bowled consistently well throughout. Chris Emms with David Brown, Peter Svendsen and Colin Greer fell behind from the early stages and although they rallied after tea were always up against it and lost 13-26. A similar story for Bill Silvester with Steve Day, Stewart Small and John Hawkes who also had to cope with their opponents having the rub of the green on a number of occasions before losing 8-23.
