A perfect evening greeted our local rivals Sandown when they visited Bembridge and the green itself also seemed in tip top condition as a result of the hard work of the green gang. Sandown arrived in good form and positioned towards the top of the table whereas Bembridge were looking upwards in the division and in rather fragile form. Looking for a fast start, one of our rinks were quickly out of the blocks, a second rink matched their opponents from the start and the third had difficulty leaving the blocks.
Pat Maher as skip with Gerald Rees, Chris Brown and Norman Cooper scored heavily from the start and never looked like relinquishing their lead before running out winners 27-10. Chris Emms with David Brown, Martin Ward and Colin Greer kept in contact from the start before drawing ahead in the closing stages and winning what had been a competitive and high quality match 25-21.
Bill Silvester with Steve Day, Ian Hampshire and Stewart Small were up against it from the start. Their opponents displayed a range of shots throughout that the home four could not match and the score of 14-45 reflected that superiority.
