Saturday 23 August. A perfect summer’s day with a cooling breeze and without the humidity of recent times. For their last home match of the season the Men’s B Team were hosting Ventnor C.
Rink 2 Bernie, Trevor, Paul C and Tim set their mark on the game with a six on the second end. Ventnor gradually came back to be twelve each at tea. Bembridge then tightened their grip and only allowed Ventnor to win two more ends. Bembridge ended with a healthy contribution to the overall score winning 31 – 17.
Rink 3 Derek, Bill M, Norman O and Kev made a steady start, and it was 8 – 10 at tea. After tea Ventnor had adapted to the faster speed of the Bembridge green and gradually pulled away winning 16 – 25.
Rink 4 Alan, Paul M, John Hol and John Hyl started with a close game, and it was eleven each at tea. Bembridge then won the next six ends including a six and a four. A two on the eighteenth was too late for a comeback from Ventnor and Bembridge were clear winners with the bigger margin of 29 – 13.
